Bank of Copiague

I never made an advertising campaign, at least not from the ground up, so I decided to create one for a fictional bank. I needed a logo, a slogan, a few page advertisements, and a commercial.

The slogan came to me first. The campaign is based around the phrase “Better Than Good” and like I said on my Portfolio page, I figured that I’ve read too much of Wordlebot’s flippant remarks about how I play Wordle. The slogan is primarily a short-term way to get customer interest in a humorous way.

For the logo, I really wanted to go with round shapes, especially since the print ads and the commercial all use rounded curves. I eventually landed on this abstract design I made in Photoshop, using simple semicircles to represent the B and C in the bank name.

The print advertisements were also made in Photoshop. The images I found all came from Adobe Stock (though interestingly I originally found them in iStockPhoto).

When I first thought about the ad copy, I planned on having shady businesspeople explain how their banks were run and how that was good enough. I eventually changed my mind and used people who were meant to be bank employees explaining how they go above and beyond other banks. I felt this made the advertisements much clearer this way.

Each print ad covers a different area of the bank. One is about ATM charges, the other is about interest rates and the last is about hours of operation. The commercial, meanwhile, covers a debated topic: depositing coins at the bank. The idea is that it is ultimately much more convenient to deposit your loose change somewhere (or simply get rid of it all if one were to go cashless).

The commercial was produced in Adobe Premiere Pro. I downloaded videos from Adobe Stock that I hoped would tell the story of how “Bank of Copiague” would be beneficial to a potential customer. Adobe Stock also provided the music. I created the text and graphics seen in the commercial and, along with the logo and slogan, brought it all together in a commercial that hoped to convey a sense of comfort and ease.
