Smithtown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care

08/2022-04/2024
Smithtown, NY
Position: Dietary Aide

The job role of the typical Dietary Aide is different depending on the shift and capability of the worker, but I assure you that working in the kitchen is often fast-paced and chaotic. The ability to multitask is necessary for anyone and everyone who steps foot here, and stress management is key to maintaining one’s composure.

Jazz Tap Center

01/2020-06/2021
Copiague, NY
Position: Graphic Designer

Jazz Tap Center is a small business that I worked for a combined six years. Jazz Tap Center is an umbrella company for “Miller and Ben Tap Shoes”, which constructs tap shoes, “Tap Emporium”, which sells shoes, complementary apparel, and other merchandise, and “The Big Apple Tap Festival”, which used to host annual festivals that connected aspiring tap dancers with established performers in the field of tap dance and beyond. I worked on everything; including print design, website upkeep, photography, video editing, social media maintenance, and so much more. This is actually the third time I’ve worked for Jazz Tap Center, and much of the time was focused on the business’s Amazon account, including setting up the official storefront.

Jazz Tap Center

04/2015-04/2018
Copiague, NY
Position: Graphic Designer

This would be the first time I was asked to return to Jazz Tap Center, my second time total. I continued working on my usual tasks, though in time I was given new projects to work on. It was during this period that I learned about video editing while using the Pinnacle Studio program. I also became acquainted with Foxit PDF Creator to create custom order forms and the Jotform Online Form Builder to create updated email and mailing list forms for the website. I continued to make meaningful additions to the business’s social media accounts like customizing header images and posting videos, and helped launch Jazz Tap Center’s Amazon Business account.

Posting videos onto Jazz Tap Center’s YouTube account involved creating a cover image in Photoshop and occasionally editing videos together into a montage using Pinnacle Studio.

JCPenney

11/2013-01/2015
West Des Moines, IA
Position: Sales Specialist
I lived in Iowa for about 16 months during the 2010s. A large portion of that time was spent working in the shoe department at JCPenney. I really enjoyed working in a diverse workspace with many unique and interesting coworkers. As with any retail job for a large corporation, teamwork, and problem-solving were key to successfully getting through the day. However, I never did figure out how to use the Brannock device.

Jazz Tap Center

07/2011-09/2013
Copiague, NY
Position: Graphic Designer

Jazz Tap Center was my first graphic design job. At this time I mainly worked on their catalog, website, print ads, mailers, and posters for the festival. I Photographed hundreds of shoes to be shown on their website. I also made the logo for their festival. For years they had a festival called Tradition in Tap, and in 2013 they rebooted it as “The Big Apple Tap Festival”. I was asked to make a logo for the new logo, and after presenting dozens and dozens of designs my boss decided on the one that you see on the website. Doing these logos helped me flex my creative muscles. It was also around this time that I jumpstarted a couple of the business’s social media accounts.

Various promotional materials that I’ve worked on, mostly done before 2014 (Going clockwise: A magazine ad, an end of year holiday letter, a few posters, a catalog, a promotional letter advertising a tap festival).
